SEEKERS

Peter first recorded
When Irish Eyes Are Smiling at the age of 10, probably
at the Wilbur Williams Studios in Northcote Victoria.
It was released on a 78rpm record with Lucky Devil
on the other side.
He recorded the song
again over 20 years later, but it would take more than
another 30 years before that recording would find its way to
a public release.
From the Rarities liner notes:
“Here is one of those magic moments in recording.
Peter was in Los Angeles in 1972 recording an album (not
released) with manager and producer Glen Wheatley. It
was during one of the recording session breaks when Peter picked
up a guitar, sat on a stool, and sang Irish Eyes. The
tape was rolling and captured this remarkable performance, and
if you listen very closely you can just hear him laugh at the
end.”
It was well worth the wait.
