GEORGY
GIRL/TICKET TO RIDE |
NEW
SEEKERS
In his introduction
to this medley on the Live at the
Royal Albert Hall LP, Marty Kristian notes that Georgy
Girl was a hit for the original Seekers and that the New
Seekers have added a “few bits and pieces” to it.
The bits and pieces are in fact from The Beatles' hit
Ticket to Ride.

SEEKERS
This is one of the
favourite album tracks with many New Seeker fans. Peter sings
the lead and provides a truly moving rendition of this special
song previously also performed by the likes of Dusty Springfield
and the Byrds.

Released as a follow
up to Never Ending Song of Love,
this song failed to achieve the same kind of chart success.
It has however remained popular, as described by Marty in his
introduction: “a happy go lucky number”. The
live version features
Eve playing guitar, Marty on banjo and Lyn on washboard and
cymbals.

PETER
DOYLE
One of a number of
covers of this classic Platters song, Peter's version was deservedly
one of his best selling hits of the 60s, an inspired rendition
from a 16 year old. The Great Pretender has been recorded
by many other artists including Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley,
The Platters and Queen.
