Look What They've Done to My Song Ma
|
Also called Look
What They've Done to My Song, Ma.
A bigger hit in the
US than the UK, nonetheless this song set the New Seekers on
the way with their recording career with Eve's vocals establishing
the early sound of the New Seekers.

SEEKERS
Lyn and Peter's performance
of When I Was Small captured the hearts of the New
Seekers fans and remained a firm favourite. The group
continued to perform it, long after Lyn and Paul had left, sometimes
as a serious piece and often played it for laughs but it is
Lyn and Peter's poignant version which is best remembered.

WHEN
THERE'S NO LOVE LEFT |
NEW
SEEKERS
When Peter introduced
this song at the Royal Albert Hall he described it as more a
song about religion than about faith. It was one of several
songs written by Lovett and Peacock for the group. Rob
Lovett had been in the Virgil Brothers with Peter and Brian
Peacock had played with the Librettos, a group which had provided
backing to a young Peter Doyle when they were on tour together
in Australia.

From the Rarities
liner notes:
"Peter and Jane were in Woodstock (1982) when he wrote
this song for her. It languished in the filing system
for over 10 years before John [Cartwright], out of frustration
through Peter's in-action with what was such a beautiful song,
recorded a backing track and took it to Gisborne. Peter
then added his haunting guitar lines and vocal in one take.
He listened to the playback, smiled, and said 'What's
Next?'.”
